How to Repurpose a Testimonial Video Into a Month of Content (Using AI + Canva)

Before we dive in…how do you even go about ASKING for a testimonial? I’ve literally taught entire two hour-long workshops on how to ask for a testimonial, because let’s be real: it can feel awkward. Especially if you live in the Midwest, where we’re taught that humility is the way to be liked.

You don’t want to seem braggy, put someone on the spot, or make it weird.

But you do want to collect stories from real people who had a great experience with you. It’s a delicate balance.

That’s why I created a free guide with the exact script and prompts I use.

Quick question: What do you do with your testimonial videos after you get them?

If the answer is, “Uhhh… let them sit on my website,” you’re not alone. But the truth is — testimonial videos are gold. Especially when you know how to break them into bite-sized, scroll-stopping content.

And the best part? You don’t need a whole team or fancy editing software. You just need a little AI and a workflow that doesn’t take weeks to implement.

Testimonial Video Workflow: Step-by-Step

Here’s my go-to process for turning one testimonial video into a bunch of high-impact content — with minimal effort.

1. Collect the Testimonial Video

📹 Recommended tool: Vocal Video

Vocal Video lets you easily request and collect client video testimonials. It walks them through the process and even auto-generates a transcript. No, I don’t get a cut for recommending it. But, I’ve enjoyed using the program so far! One thing I love about it, is that you can send out your ask, and don’t have to be present live to coach them through the interview. In my opinion, it makes the responses more authentic, because they don’t see your face and worry about disappointing your, or saying the “perfect” thing.

Other video recording/platform options:

  • VideoAsk if you want something more interactive

  • Zoom if you’re collecting feedback live

And if you’re not up for the entire testimonial workflow, but want some fast content - Vocal Video takes care of that for you with their AI. Below is a video that was automatically edited for me, by their platform. Not too shabby!

2. Extract the Best Quotes with AI

Paste your transcript into ChatGPT (or your favorite AI tool) and prompt it like this:

“Pull out the 3–5 most emotionally resonant or insight-rich quotes from this testimonial. Format in a table.”

Bonus asks:

  • Captions for Instagram Reels or TikToks

  • A tweet-length summary

  • Post headlines or hooks

  • B-roll ideas or hashtags

3. Organize Quotes in a CSV File

Create a simple spreadsheet with your favorite one/two line quotes, and these categories:

  • Quote

  • Speaker

  • (Optional) Platform or Tone

📂 Save this to your computer — we’ll be using it in Step 5!

4. Trim the Video Into Short Clips

🛠 Use Canva, Descript, or Opus Clip to:

  • Trim 3–5 short soundbites (15–60 sec)

  • Add captions or titles…This is important! They don’t need to be fancy, but the majority of video is watched without sound, so be mindful of the audience. If you don’t embed captions on the actual video, make sure to enable them on whatever social platform you’re posting on.

  • Resize for vertical platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn if you’re uploading from mobile)

This is where the magic happens — especially for testimonial-based lead generation.

5. Use Canva’s Bulk Create Tool for Graphics

🎨 Go to Canva Bulk Create and:

  • Upload your quote CSV

  • Connect to a branded graphic template

  • Let Canva auto-generate 5+ quote images in seconds

Want animated quote graphics too? Hit the “Animate” button before exporting.
Bonus: if using bulk create sounds complicated, don’t worry - after you see how to do it the first time, it will be a cake walk. There are dozens of tutorials on youtube stepping through how to do it step by step - so, check one of those out!

6. Schedule + Share

Now that you’ve got:

  • 3–5 short clips

  • 5 static (or animated) quote graphics

  • Captions and headlines from AI…

You’ve got a month of content from one video.

Post to Instagram, LinkedIn, your email list, your website — or all of the above. Bonus points if you tag the client and share their story. That additional step adds credibility, heart, and authenticity to your post.

Why This Testimonial Workflow Works

✅ It saves time
✅ It keeps your social media authentic
✅ It leverages AI without sounding robotic
✅ It gives your best clients the spotlight

And most importantly: it gets results. Testimonial-based content often converts better than polished promos — because it’s human.
